John Quinn

Following several senior Loss Adjusting roles in Perth, London and Melbourne, John opened his own Loss Adjusting practice in WA in 2000.

Seeing first-hand the gap for specialist representation for industry he ‘crossed the insurance road’ in 2005, founding YourClaim, a Claims Preparation company.

In recent years, accomplished co-owner Graham Cox has increasingly led the traditional Claims Preparation instructions with John specializing in the more ‘distressed’ commercial insurance claim matters.

That specialist single service offering has formally been spun out of YourClaim and in to the ‘no win no fee’ Beanstalk Advisory – differentiating and simplifying both of the businesses.

On a personal level John’s a massive sports fan and claims to have been above average at a number of sports whilst falling short of being outstanding at any. In support of that attention seeking assertion he’s still stumbling around sport seeking to stay relevant. He can currently be found down the back half of the peloton in weekly rides continuing to stay very red in the face for very little improvement.

Since 2012 he has completed an annual week long charity bike ride (Nokor Tep) in Cambodia with money raised building a women’s hospital. The Hospital is scheduled for opening in March 2018. He blogs about it here.

John is married to the very beautiful Joanna and they have a stocky 12 year old (Harry).

Graham Cox

Graham began his insurance career in 2000 in South Africa as an Assistant Manager in the Forensic Accounting division at Ernst & Young before becoming Co-leader of the Forensic Accounting and Claims Services division at Marsh Pty Ltd.

In 2008 Graham moved to Australia and joined the LMI Group as General Manager of the Claims Services division. In that role he managed claims arising from multiple catastrophes including Victorian Bushfires (2009), Melbourne Hailstorm (2010), Christchurch Earthquakes (2010 & 2011), Brisbane Floods (2011), Melbourne Storms (2011) and Cyclone Yasi (2011).

Graham joined YourClaim in Perth in November 2011, becoming a Co-Director shortly thereafter and a half owner in more recent times. With approaching 20 years of claims experience and expertise (and whilst he would not say this about himself) Graham is considered amongst the most talented and accomplished Claims Preparers in Australia

On a personal level, Graham is an outdoor enthusiast with an affinity for, and love of, the ocean and fitness generally. Most recently he has developed a passion for Crossfit and is now a qualified CF Level 1 trainer, coaching in his spare time. Whilst admittedly way past his best, Graham enjoys keeping fit and healthy, be that kite surfing along the West Coast or trying to match his fitness efforts against people a decade or more younger than him. The West Australian lifestyle and Graham and his beautiful wife and two daughters are proving the perfect match.

Upon arrival I found everything burnt to the ground, with nothing left at all. For the first few days all was a bit numb as I was in shock but realty soon hit when the insurance company started bombarding me with questions and figures. My experience with insurance companies had not been altogether great before this event and I felt they would do anything to get out of or reduce any payout. As my whole life was in this business it was quite scary

I was contacted by an industry associate who recommended I contact John Quinn. At first I was a bit sceptical as I had never heard of anyone doing this type of work.

After a quick meeting on site with John he explained how the policy worked in practice and what he felt that I was entitled too. I initially thought he may have been a little optimistic but after a relatively short period of time the outcome was exactly as predicted. It goes without saying that I was very impressed with John and Graham and the way they represented us with our multi million dollar claim. No nonsense and achieved all targets as predicted with a very professional approach.

Dealing with the insurers of my tenant and the myriad of reasons they came up with to limit payment on the loss to our company, my claim simply had to be put in the hands of an expert.

Mr John Quinn proved himself to be that expert. Over a period of more than a year he thoroughly, professionally and honestly pursued all of the entitlements under our policy, some not evident to a layman such as myself. We became involved in a company who were nearing the end of a large commercial insurance claim, which had some complex market issues attaching. Given the amount of money involved, our company spent considerable time analysing the work undertaken by the appointed Claims Preparation company, YourClaim WA.
John and Graham from YourClaim stepped us through every element of the claim in a professional and friendly fashion, which we found extremely comforting in an unfamiliar environment. We know a lot more about how commercial insurance works now – we just hope we don’t have to use that newfound knowledge again!

I recently had a significant water damage claim. Long story short, despite the fact that I felt I knew the subject matter of the claim at least as well as the experts my Insurer sent out, they continued to deny my claim for almost a year. Ultimately, I asked to have the matter escalated to my Insurers Internal Disputes Resolution process (IDR). After that process also proved unsuccessful I lodged a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman’s Service (FOS) .
I conservatively estimate I expended between 100 and 150 hours “arguing” my claim over that period.
At that point, when the matter was on death row, at FOS I got recommended to John at YourClaim.

He assisted greatly in arguing the facts in the language of the policy with both my Insurer and FOS – ultimately getting the matter settled in my favour – much to my relief.
I only wish I knew a service such as theirs existed one year and 150 hours earlier!
